van Tuil
Tasmanian furniture designer Scott van Tuil carefully crafts beautiful objects, working across a variety of materials, modes and scales. As the recipient of Design Tasmania Award for Furniture in 2016, part of his prize was the offer of a logo design sponsored by The20. I was fortunate enough to work with Scott to develop an identity that complimented the unique qualities of his work.
Clean, minimal and linear, the logo was made by modifying existing typography to subtly integrate signature details of van Tuil’s furniture designs into key junctions and intersections of the letterforms. A series of sub-brands were also created that could be used to align with prospective product ranges. This project was one of those occasions where the language of design from different disciplines can be thoughtfully expressed and understood in the same mode.
