TSO 2017
Classical music has the power to move us in ways that are hard to describe. It can take us back to a place in time, or evoke a deep-seated memory, or a stir of emotion that can only be returned by a rousing orchestral performance. It can move us to tears, or make our hair stand on end. It can move us in less tangible ways too – we may see vibrations of energy or emanation of colour. This is the inspiration for the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra’s Season 2017 theme See the Music – a vivid, moving and energetic expression of our connection with classical music. Moving away from their traditional approach to communication, TSO chose a design-led approach that created space for new ways of expressing the season repertoire and inviting the audience to connect with their sound more personally. The new approach was highly successful, seeing a greater uptake in season brochures, subscriptions and tickets sales.
